Novo Nordisk, Glooko team up on diabetes app

Novo Nordisk and Glooko are working together to help people manage diabetes from their phones. The companies have partnered on the Cornerstones4Care Powered by Glooko, an app melding Novo Nordisk’s knowledge of diabetes and personalized patient support with Glooko’s digital platform and data analytics know-how.

The idea behind the app is to provide, for people with diabetes, a means of measuring and tracking their blood glucose, activity and meals in one place. Using Glooko’s technology, a user can sync their blood glucose and activity data from most available diabetes and exercise devices.

It also identifies any pertinent trends that can help in understanding the factors impacting blood glucose levels; it includes relevant content and resources culled from Cornerstones4Care, a personalized diabetes support program. The integrated offering is intended to help people learn how to better manage diabetes through their mobile devices.

To gain experience and invite use, Novo Nordisk is making the new C4C app free to all patients enrolled in Cornerstones4Care.com and free for download from both the Apple and Google Play App stores.

The C4C app is considered by Novo Nordisk to be a milestone in its efforts to build a digital health platform, which is being developed in partnership with IBM Watson Health.

Glooko’s platform is used in over 4,800 health systems across 27 countries. In September, the company merged with Swedish diabetes management company Diasend to expand their technological capabilities and establish a greater global footprint.
