Fitbit Charge 3 comes to UnitedHealthcare's Motion program, DrChrono's EHRs offer HealthFeed educational content and more digital health deals

Fitbit and UnitedHealthcare are revitalizing their longstanding partnership with an update to the latter’s wellness-focused Motion Walking Program.

Participants in the employer-sponsored program may use their Fitbit Charge 3 device to log daily activity and earn rewards, or obtain the device as a buy-up option. In addition, the companies announced that the Fitbit Inspire HR will also be available to program participants before the end of the year.

"After more than two years, Fitbit devices continue to prove popular among UnitedHealthcare Motion program participants, helping encourage sustained and positive behavior change,” Adam Pellegrini, general manager of Fitbit Health Solutions, said in a statement. “Our collaboration with UnitedHealthcare on this successful wearable device walking program and other health initiatives continues to demonstrate the important role wearable technology can play in helping people on their path toward better health.”

Mobile EHR maker DrChrono has partnered with patient engagement platform HealthFeed to supply providers with, according to the announcement, 10 times more educational content than what was previously available on the EHR platform. Now, providers using the system may select a HealthFeed module to supply patients with health articles, illustrations and videos in English and Spanish that can be delivered via email or text message.

“Patients remember about 80% more information when presented with both a visual aid and verbal instruction, rather than just verbal instruction, and research also shows that the moment of diagnosis is an ineffective time to teach overwhelmed patients the details of self-management,” Sai Ganesamoorthi, cofounder and CEO of HealthFeed, said in a statement. “HealthFeed libraries are giving providers using the DrChrono platform ten times the amount of education content to offer their patients, and we’re excited to reach many more practices across the country so they can better inform their patients on self-care for a variety of chronic conditions.”

The Ascom Myco 3 smartphone has been listed on the Target Platform for Epic’s Rover app, according to a recent announcement. As such, the device — which includes a wealth of features for clinician users — will now be able to access various tools within Epic’s EHR system.

“The Ascom Myco 3 barcode scanner lets clinicians securely identify patients, medications and colleagues at the point of care and while on the go,” Francis Schmeer, chief sales and marketing officer at Ascom, said in a statement. “It’s a clear illustration of how the smartphone benefits busy clinicians, enabling smooth access to key data, and the ability to communicate and coordinate with colleagues, systems and patients.”

Nucleai, an artificial intelligence company looking to bring precision medicine technology to pathology, has partnered with cancer diagnostic company Protean BioDiagnostics for a co-branded campaign that will pair the two companies’ technologies.

“Our mission at Protean BioDiagnostics is to offer the most advanced and personalized oncology technology to help cancer patients and their doctors in the most effective ways possible,” Dr. Anthony Magliocco, founder and president of Protean BioDiagnostics, said in a statement. “We are very excited to collaborate with Nucleai to combine our molecular capabilities with their advanced image analysis solution to develop leading solutions in the precision medicine area.”
