Yesterday morning British mental health startup Unmind announced a €3.4m (£3m) raise. Felix Capital led the round with participation from private investors Michael Whitfield and Chris Bruce.
What they do
The London-based startup focuses on promoting mental health in the workplace. Specifically, the company works with employers to provide digital tools to their workforce. The company stresses that it has worked with academics and psychologists to develop the training tools and assessments.
Currently the platform includes learning and development tools, as well as exercises designed to help people relax and focus. The platform also has an assessment and insight component, which will let people monitor their mental wellbeing over time. Users will also have access to a database of helplines and healthcare providers.
What it’s for
The latest funding round will be put towards improving the mobile platform and increasing its library of contents.
Market snap shot
Workplace mental health has been a topic of discussion worldwide and the digital space is now seeing innovations focused on improving this area. Notably Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, launched Mental Health at Work, which aims to help link employers and employees to information and resources about mental health. The platform, which is supported by the Royal Foundation, was officially unveiled in September.
Spring Health is another startup in the space. The employee focused startup connects users to mental health resources. In July the American company snagged €5.3m (£4.5m) in seed funding.
On the record
“The aspiration for a better life provides lots of opportunities for new digital branded proposition capturing fast changing behaviours,” Antoine Nussenbaum, partner at Felix Capital, said in a statement. “With Unmind, we’re partnering with a founding team on an authentic mission to solve mental wellness at the workplace, something that has never really been addressed properly. Initial traction with well-established brands such as John Lewis or William Hill are good illustrations of the blue ocean to tackle in front of us, we’re excited to be on board this very special journey.”
