After nearly two years as AT&T's chief medical information officer (CMIO), Dr. Geeta Nayyar has joined care coordination company PatientPoint as its CMIO.
Since hiring Nayyar in 2011, AT&T's ForHealth has launched various partnerships and programs.

iPads might not be ideal for all medical practice settings, but Dr. Lennox Hoyte, CMIO and director of urogynecolgy of the University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, believes they are a lot better than desktop computers in exam rooms or at the patient's bedside.
"We're moving toward 95 percent of physician activity going away from the desktop," Hoyte said.

Some 39 percent of Chief Medical Information Officers have rolled out mobile computers or handhelds at their facilities, according to a recently published survey in CMIO Magazine.
