This morning FundamentalVR, a digital health company that uses virtual reality to help train clinicians, closed a $5.67 million Series A round. Downing Ventures led the round with participation from Tern PLC, Epic Private Equity and Brighteye Ventures. Approximately $600,000 of that funding came in the form of a convertible loan note.

Munich-headquartered startup inveox, maker of an AI-enabled system developed to digitise processes in pathology laboratories, has secured an investment of €17m. The new funds will be used to support their “forthcoming series production and expansion into new markets”, according to managing partner Maria Sievert. The names of the investors were not disclosed.

Two virtual reality companies focused on surgery, Osso VR and FundamentalVR, announced major partnerships this week at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

This morning FundamentalVR, maker of a virtual reality surgical training platform, landed $1.4 million in new funding from investment company Tern Plc. This latest investment brings the company’s total funding to $2.6 million. It also furthers return investor Tern Plc stake in the company, bringing its investments to 34.5 percent of the startup’s holdings.

Deborah DiSanzo has stepped down as the head of IBM Watson Health, STAT News reports.
