This week health insurance company UnitedHealthcare launched a new mobile health app, Health4Me, that gives its employer plan customers access to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The app is currently only available for Apple iPhone or iPad users, but United plans to launch an Android version of the app this spring.

Those in the market for a "senior-friendly" phone just got another option: Samsung's Haven, available to Verizon Wireless subscribers as of today. The Haven features a dedicated In Case of Emergency (ICE) button, adjustable fonts to make it easier to read text on the phone's screen, speech recognition software and well-being and medical management tools.

"Larger [wireless] carriers don't think mobile health is 'here' yet," Jitterbug parent company GreatCall CEO David Inns said during a presentation at the Mobile Health 2010 event at Stanford last month. "That's great news for us."
